A people so favored of God: Boston's congregational churches..
This book is intended for all those with an interest in New England Puritanism, American evangelicalism, the history of revivalism, or the history of pastoral ministry. By doing the patient work of reconstructing the church records of these Boston churches, Harper demonstrates very convincingly that the sharp theological distinctions that later clearly demarcated the more Evangelical "New Lights" from the more Liberal "Old Lights" were more of a result of the controversy over the Great Awakening than its cause.
